Ahmedabad is a fast developing city. Many industries have been set up in and around Ahmedabad in the past few years. But this development is not without its-effects.
Ahmedabad is one of the most polluted cities in India. Many old trees are cut down thoughtlessly to make place for high-rise buildings. Trees help to purify the air and attract rain clouds. They provide shade and add to the beauty of the city.
The rapid industrialization and modernization has resulted in air and water pollution. The gases and smoke from the industries have polluted the environment. Many industries dump their chemicals wastes into the by river. This water is used by people is adversely affected by such pollution.
The number of vehicles in the city has increased. The smoke and gas emitted by vehicles, constant noise of engines and horns have created air and noise pollution. The noise pollution due to loud speakers used during public festivals and crackers at to misery.
The collection and pilling of garbage on roads, hawker selling uncovered and unhygienic food breed germs of diseases. The growth of slums has added to the environment problems. As a result, Ahmedabad has become a problem city.
