Reliance Jio rolls out WiFi service in Vijayawada

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) promises to shape the future of India by providing end-to-end digital solutions for businesses, institutions and households and seamlessly bridging the rural-urban divide. Reliance Jio Infocomm is a subsidiary service of a Reliance Industries Limited. India’s largest private sector company, is the first telecom operator to hold pan India Unified License. This license authorises RJIL to provide all telecommunication services except Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite Service. As a result of this Reliance Jio Infocomm rolled out a Wi-Fi service at MG Road in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

“RJIL is setting up a pan India telecom network to provide to the highly underserviced India market, reliable (4th generation) high speed internet connectivity, rich communication services and various digital services on pan India basis in key domains such as education, healthcare, security, financial services, government citizen interfaces and entertainment. RJIL aims to provide anytime, anywhere access to innovative and empowering digital content, applications and services, thereby propelling India into global leadership in digital economy.”

The service was launched by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N chandrababu naidu on occasion of jio Amaravati Marathon. K S Venugopal Regional Head-South Reliance Jio said,

The people of Andhra Pradesh will be able to experience the digital ecosystem that Jio is building. Jio is motivated to end the digital divide by bringing cutting edge (true 4G) technology to people from all sections of the society, to enrich and empower lives.

Last month, Reliance Jio had announced the launch of its 4G service for its employees under Jio brand name. The company is also offering Jio mobile service for free to its one lakh employees as of now and expects to roll out 4G service commercially around March-April next year. There are several 4G service provider in India like Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodaphone, Aircel. But the RJIL claims that Jio 4G will deliver 10 time higher download speed and 4 times better upload speed compared to other!
